I've read several times on the group here that this song, which appears on Apocrypha, is disclaimed by FZ himself. Never saw the actual quote.
Den Simms asked in a Society Pages interview, said he never heard of it.
IB: I have a tape of Frank allegedly teaching Geronimo Black a tune called "Falling In Love Is A Stupid Habit." He subsequently denied it was him—in which case, are you gonna record it as you won't have to pay any royalties to Gail!?
JCB: He wasn't teaching Geronimo Black that tune but he was playing it for me. He said that I could have the song and we even discussed the instruments that would sound good on it. It was Frank playing the piano in his studio with Andy Cahan and me there. The year was 1981 and I was in California rehearsing for the first Grandmothers tour of Europe [June 1981]. I don't even have a copy of that tape anymore, but if you want to make me a copy, I might do the song. Although if I did it, I'll bet Gail would remember the song and probably not let me release it.
In 1981, Jimmy invited me to a house he was staying at in the Hollywood Hills. Later that night, he and The Grandmothers were playing a show at The Roxy in Hollywood [June 1, 1981].
Earlier that day, Jimmy had been up at FZ's house where FZ had recorded a new song called Falling In Love Is A Stupid Habit for Jimmy on a little ghetto blaster.
When Jimmy got back to his house, he let me make a copy from his master copy. I still have that tape too. It's a simple recording of FZ sitting at his Bosendorfer grand piano, singing it into the mic of a boom box.

FZ:
Now I see I've should've run like a rabit
Love comes along and I reach out and grab it
Doggone it, dagnab it
Falling in love is a stupid habit
Falling in love, in love, in love
(One, two, three, four)
Maybe this doesn't happen to you
You could be a superman
But if I see somebody new
I reach out and grab her hand
I reach out and grab a lot
'Cause I like what she has got
She don't need what I propose
So I gets it up the nose
(...Two Three Four)
Doggone it, dagnab it
Falling in love is a stupid habit
Doggone it, dagnab it
Falling in love is a stupid habit
Falling in love, in love, in love
(One, two, three, four)
You could be the lucky type
You could have a fancy car
All the girls know what they like
And if you've got it you'll go far
But I speak out and say hello
The girls all tell me where to go
People this goes on and on
What the heck have I done wrong
Two, Three, Four
Doggone it, dagnab it
Falling in love is a stupid habit
Doggone it, dagnab it
Falling in love is a stupid habit
(etcetera)
