3. Plastic People

(Chee poppa doodly woppa)

Charles Ulrich, April 16, 2018

The nonsense line "Chee poppa doodly woppa" is heard in "The World's Greatest Sinner" by Baby Ray & the Ferns and in "Plastic People" on Joe's Corsage.

"Just A Lonely Clown" (1957) by Huey "Piano" Smith has "doodly woppa", but no "chee poppa".

"Well I'll Be John Brown" (1958) by Huey "Piano" Smith has "chee poppa doodly woppa".

We can assume that FZ was familiar with "Well I'll Be John Brown," since he played the flipside "Don't You Know Yockomo" on KPPC-FM, 68/11/27.
